Antonella Quacchia
As an artist, I navigate the world through two distinct lenses: one from a vast distance, akin to observing a macrocosm, and the other from an incredibly close perspective, delving into the subatomic realm where form and color dissolve into intricate components. This toggling between micro and macrocosmic viewpoints allows me to explore objects beyond their outward appearance, revealing their essence.
In our contemporary understanding, matter exists in a dual state, exhibiting both wave-like and particle-like properties. This realization transforms how we interpret our surroundings. It’s akin to the interplay of light and shadow in an elegantly designed interior space—each element contributes to the overall harmony.
My artistic journey has been enriched by experiences at the European Centre for Nuclear Research (CERN), where I engaged with cutting-edge elementary particle research. CERN embodies perpetual questioning, challenging absolute truths—a mindset that resonates with the dynamic world of interior decoration. Just as a well-designed homes and living spaces invites curiosity and exploration, my art invites viewers to question and discover.
Beyond particle physics, a 27-year tenure at the International Labour Organization (ILO) exposed me to diverse cultures, ideologies, and customs. Collaborating with colleagues from 187 nationalities fostered humility and an appreciation for multifaceted perspectives—this interconnectedness been clearly reflected in my art production. Each artwork offers layers of interpretation, mirroring the fluidity of existence. Like a beautifully curated space, each piece invites viewers to explore countless possibilities. There’s no fixed meaning; instead, every artwork serves as a portal—a bridge between the tangible and the intangible.
In essence, my work celebrates the multifaceted nature of reality, resonating with anyone who seeks depth, beauty, and intrigue in every detail; melding aesthetics, functionality, and cultural nuances.
